Cliffed Out Hiker on Ellingwood Point – Sept. 10-11, 2021

On September 10, AVSAR Received a call of a hiker who was cliffed out just below the Ellingwood Point summit. This individual called for help and decided to stay in his position and not move any further.

He was located via cell phone signal and was able to communicate with AVSAR leadership and CSP Dispatch during the entire search operation. 

After a long, cold night an AVSAR hasty team was sent at first light to make contact with the individual. AVSAR was able to make contact with him and they were all able to hike down South Zapata Lake to Incident Command.
